About

At Tulane I work on two main subjects:

1) A Holocene sea-level database for the Gulf Coast
I will develop a comprehensive database of Holocene sea-level indicators from the entire US Gulf Coast. The goal is to understand the spatial variability of patterns of sea-level rise throughout this region, which will also involve geophysical modelers. All relevant sea-level data will be used, subjected to quality assessment and rigorous error analysis, so that they can be used for comparison and as one uniform database.

2) Interaction between the Mississippi Delta and the adjacent Chenier Plain
Extensive field mapping, coring, and the collection of sediment samples for further laboratory analysis (notably geochronology). The focus will be on the last 5,000 years. A key issue will be how shifts of the Mississippi river mouth affected the development of the Chenier Plain to the west of it.
